It’s the most wonderful time of the year and I chose to decorate our home very simply this year using a mostly neutral palette with lots of white and green, but with a pink peppermint twist! Read on for some simple Christmas decor ideas with a fun pink twist!

A Frosty Front Porch
I wanted to make the front porch feel festive, but also welcoming! I added garland to the window and 2 faux potted trees in terracotta pots by the front door. The clay pots reminded me of gingerbread, so I added one more with some white and red stems that look like rock candy! A soft faux fur pillow in snowy white and an aptly named Peppermint throw on the swing add a cosy feel! Fresh evergreen trees in galvanized bins add an invigorating cut pine scent as you make your way to the door!
The Guest Entrance
Through the front door is our guest entryway! This used to be our main entry, but we’ve added a mudroom (which I’m obsessed with and I’ll show you very shortly)! Keeping this space neat and uncluttered means that there’s lots of room for visitors to hang their coats and drop their parcels etc… I simply hung garland
Holiday Living Space
Our home isn’t large. From the front entry, you can see right into the living spaces and kitchen. So I kept my simple Christmas decor ideas cohesive throughout the spaces! I hung more of my favourite wispy cedar garland on the mantle (I find faux best for around the fireplace as fresh just dries up so fast). Vintage brass candlesticks and a golden mirror add warmth and shine! Simple stockings with just a touch of sparkle are neutral but still festive! And finally, inexpensive emerald velvet pillow covers add a touch of the deep green that I seem to crave at this time of year.
A Tiny Christmas Tree
We finally got rid of our old, ugly tree and I couldn’t quite decide what to replace it with. I put up this simple little Christmas tree as a placeholder and ended up loving it! I added some height by stacking books in a basket and covering the base of the tree with a gorgeous throw! Laser-cut wooden ornaments and a few rose gold bells are all this little beauty needed to shine! I placed gifts at the base of the tree in a pretty rattan basket and added beautiful and reusable cotton gift bags from Pi’lo.
A Festive Holiday Kitchen
In the
Stove-top Potpourri
This year I added another element to my decor…scent! I made stovetop potpourri and I simmer it on the stove throughout the day to add the scents of orange, cinnamon, and sage to the house. It adds an extra dimension to the Christmas feel!
The Dining Nook
We don’t have a dining room in our house. Our regular eating space is the nook just off the kitchen. I actually love how informal the space is and how everyone gathers in the kitchen! But because it’s a small space I like to keep the decor minimal. Instead of putting a centrepiece on the table I decorated the chandelier above.
The china cabinet had a few touches added as well. A lit Noel sign brightens up the corner and a festive apron hangs ready for Christmas baking.
Family Traditions
In the corner, we put up my favourite Christmas decoration…our vintage handmade felt advent calendar. My very talented Aunt made it when I was a baby. I love seeing my girls putting up the same decorations I used to look forward to placing each year when I was a child! Christmas is such a nostalgic time and I love keeping family traditions alive!
The Hallways and Bedrooms
Right beside the living space is the hall leading to the bedrooms! We didn’t forget this area! This year I set up a mini Christmas village with a sweet little church that lights up. It’s nestled in a “snowy” wonderland lit by tiny tealights(battery operated for safety). The garland hung over the mirror makes it feel like the village is in a snowy forest!
The girls’ bedrooms also had a touch of Christmas spirit added and they love falling asleep to the glow of twinkle lights. We added a small tree in each of their rooms with their own mini ornaments! It only took a few minutes to set up, but it made them feel so special!
Mistletoe in the Mudroom
The mudroom is my favourite space in the house. This year I set it up as our wrapping station. When I designed the mudroom I added a generous countertop area with lots of storage for just such a thing! I added the peppermint twist theme with some inexpensive pink striped rugs from Ikea. The English
Even Sir Fluffykins, our resident rabbit, is feeling frisky with a sprig of mistletoe hanging above his portrait!
A Forest Wonderland
Last, but not least, I have one more space to walk you through…our three-season screen room! I love bringing greenery into this space. The wall of windows showcases the snowy forest behind our home and the trees inside almost seem to blend into the ones outside. Curled up by the fire you feel as if you are sitting in the middle of the forest! At night when all the twinkle lights are on, it’s really quite magical.
