In our house, summer decor is about de-cluttering and cleaning, throwing the windows open and enjoying the fresh air! I like to keep the house feeling open and airy. Summery Kitchen Decor

This year I’m kind of obsessed with all things peachy, terracotta or coral coloured. So I added a few herbs and topiaries in terracotta pots to the kitchen. I love the way the terracotta and the bright citrus colour of the fresh oranges play off the teal backsplash tile.

A peachy striped kitchen towel hung from the corner cupboard beside the farmhouse sink is a fun and summery touch. Fresh kitchen towels are one of the easiest and most inexpensive ways to refresh your summer decor. I change mine often!

I love collecting pretty things by the sink! It drives Mark nuts, but a vintage look hand soap, a wooden vegetable brush, and a mini collection of cookbooks and framed art make me happy every time I do the dishes!

My favourite teal tea kettle left on the cooktop adds a fun splash of colour! It’s made by Kate Spade. The cutest thing about it is that it says “whistle while you work” on the spout cover!!

This miniature Myrtle topiary is easy to take care of and adds a European flair to the summer decor! I love how it looks in front of the lantern tiles we installed inside the window.

The girls love it when there are sweet treats on the island when they get home, but in the summer I rarely bake. Store-bought doughnuts look fresh out of the oven when they are taken out of their packaging and served up on a cake pedestal & parchment paper.

I love how just a few inexpensive touches have transitioned the kitchen from crisp and wintery to bright and summery!

Summer Dining Room Setup

Everything just feels less formal in the summer, especially meal times. So for summer meals we just throw a pile of plates and utensils on the table instead of setting places. We usually end up eating out in the sunroom or on the deck anyway! If we are having company over, I’ll still make it special by adding some colourful fruit or flowers or tying a pretty ribbon around the cutlery!

We’ve been trying to slowly make our home more environmentally friendly over the past year. It’s definitely challenging, but small changes can make a big difference. These cute produce bags look adorable hung on the china cabinet. Being able to see all my cute little lemons & limes also means I actually remember to use them! (And if you take them to the grocery store you can use them instead of the plastic produce bags)!

I loved the faux cherry blossom stems from my Easter Collaboration with Crate & Barrel so much that I decided to keep them out over the summer. They look so pretty perched on a vintage wooden stool!

A Summery Entryway

Summer usually means we have visitors coming and going so I freshened up our guest entrance. A sisal mat adds some warmth and a couple of simple touches make it feel fresh, but not crowded.

I hung my favorite straw hat from the baskets on the wall. It reminds me to wear it! But it also makes it obvious for guests that they are welcome to hang their hats, scarves etc.. there too.

I placed a trailing ivy on the entry bench. The pot is hidden in a cute woven basket I picked up at Target when we were in Hawaii last year! I love how the greenery adds so much freshness!

A cute French market basket is easy to grab on the way out the door. Rubber boots are on hot standby for gardening!

Summer Mudroom Style

The mudroom turns into my potting shed in the summer! The boot wash makes a perfect plant washing and watering station.

The deep stainless steel sink and high faucet are perfect for clipping flowers or filling watering cans.

The other side of the mudroom has turned into my apothecary! I use essential oils daily and I love organizing my supplies and concocting new recipes here!

I keep pretty ribbons and wrapping paper on hand as well in case I need to wrap a gift or some flowers quickly on the way out the door.
