I'm Amanda and I’m passionate about creating a well loved and well lived in home for my family and I Iove to help others do the same!
So if you are familiar with my home and design style…you’ll know that I prefer subtle decor over anything that’s too thematic…even for Halloween! This year I added a few very simple touches to create a pretty and subtle Halloween mantle to get ready for Oct 31!

I used mostly real pumpkins in my decor this year. I love that when the season is over they can be carved or used in the kitchen. Nothing is wasted and there’s not much to store! My favourites are the white Cinderella pumpkins and anything mini. So cute!
Adding twinkle lights immediately brings a little magic to the mantle! I love adding twinkle lights early in the season and keeping them on through Christmas and beyond. My favourite trick is to wind them through a stack of pumpkins.
I added a few strands of twinkle lights to the cascade of pumpkins on the hearth. You can almost imagine one is about to magically transform into a carriage! This would look so pretty on the porch as well!

I kept to mostly neutral fall details to create a subtle Halloween mantle, like this dainty gold wreath and textured white vase. I clipped some branches from the yard and added a few simple white pumpkins to complete the vignette. Placing the pumpkins with their stems facing varying directions adds interest and highlights their pretty shapes!
You can see that the twisty stem on the little white pumpkin below is turning brown at the tip. This means it’s starting to cure and will be ready for winter storage when it has dried and hardened!
Black candlestick holders are a nice sharp contrast to the pale wood of the mantle and the subtle print. The orange pumpkins and mini banner add a hit of color and fun!
Of course Ginger Bones has been enjoying the ambience and tucking in next to this pretty setup! Now time for the first fire of the season!!
And I get asked a lot… but no… this isn’t the Anthropologie Gleaming Primrose mirror! I found this knock-off version at Homesense for way less! (And I’ve seen it in-store as recently as a month or two ago)! Structube now also has a more affordable version!
So what kind of Halloween decorator are you? Do you enjoy a subtle Halloween mantle like me? Or are you more of an all-out scary Halloween kinda person?!

Aw thank you! I got the mini banners from a local shop a couple of years ago, but you can still find it on Etsy!
