Welcome to our pink gingerbread Christmas home tour! This year’s theme includes soft colours and gingerbread accents with lots of twinkle! I wanted our home to feel calm and cozy this year. With all that’s happening in the world (#2020), it was more important than ever to me to make our space feel special without spending a fortune or overwhelming myself trying to make everything over the top or perfect.

A Welcoming Front Door

The first place that guests see when they come to visit is obviously the front door, so we wanted it to feel warm and welcoming (even though there won’t be a lot…or any… people coming this Christmas #2020). We added fresh garland to the door and window and a pretty bow and brass bells to dress up the faux cedar wreath on the door. Cozy Holiday Entryway Décor

When you walk in the door our little guest entryway is all fancied up for the season with some simple cedar garland, twinkle lights and the prettiest taupe velvet and blush silk ribbon! I like to keep this area super simple so there is lots of room to hang coats and tuck away shoes and bags etc…

The Stockings were hung…

…NOT by the Chimney with care! Last year we hung the stockings on the mantle as usual, but we use our fireplace to heat the house and it’s constantly on. It gets very hot and the stockings were in the way. So this year I moved them to the wall by the entryway and I think they look so cute!

I just used 3M command hooks to hang them. Then I stuffed them with some tissue paper to make them look full and added a sprig of faux greenery in the top of each one. A pink silk bow hides the hook and keeps a pretty brass bell in place!

Oh Christmas Tree!

This year the tree is all about sparkles and gingerbread! I found this sparkly 7.5ft faux fir tree at Canadian Tire. It has 1200 LED lights that make it extra twinkly! I loved that this one was sort of a hybrid between the sparse trees I love so much and the full style that my family prefers lol! We can all agree on this one.

No pink gingerbread Christmas home tour is complete without gingerbread ornaments to hang on the tree and they were surprisingly easy to make! Even my subpar icing skills didn’t ruin the effect lol! I added a few pink ornaments to tie in the soft colours used in the rest of the décor this year. And then I added lots of tiny vintage brass bells for extra sparkle and charm! Last year I made a simple garland out of these bells. I love pieces like this that you can use year after year in different ways.

Think Outside the Bag!

A Simple Holiday Mantle

I kept the mantle extra simple with more faux cedar tied with ribbon, pink candles and the cutest little ceramic row house tea light holders.

These little row houses were one of the few things that I bought new this year. I couldn’t really find what I wanted here, so I ended up splurging a little and I ordered them from a small shop in the UK. They make me extra happy as they remind me of where I grew up!

The blush pink candles look so pretty against the gold of the mirror and natural wood tones of the mantle and I love the glow of candlelight at this time of year.

I was feeling asymmetry this year so I just draped garland over one edge of the mantle and tied it with a pretty bow. I love that it looks perfectly imperfect. I get asked about the little wreath on the mantle all the time. It’s from Plum Home & Design and it’s so reasonably priced!

Remembering the details

Some extra little touches in the living room make it super cozy…

I added some dark green pillows that I’ve had for a few years and they tie in nicely with the vintage style rug to add some depth to the room. And of course, I had to add a cozy throw to cuddle up under by the fire.

The cozy throw was definitely Ollie’s favourite part of the whole business!

On the coffee table I just added some pine cones and a few of the pink ornaments from the tree for a pretty display. I also like to sprinkle the pine cones with Christmas Spirit & Orange Essential Oils and they act like mini diffusers!

And I had to add some Christmas bling to the bookshelves of course. A few little trees, an extra brass bell, and twinkly lights make a mini winter wonderland behind the doors. And I love the way the lights from the tree reflect in the glass!

Gingerbread in the Kitchen

I hung gingerbread star ornaments over the kitchen window along with more faux cedar garland and copper dipped string lights. I love the added warmth of the copper in the kitchen!

The copper lights look so pretty lit up at night and I love the slightly vintage vibe! (These copper lights are from a few years ago and I haven’t been able to find any since. I’ll keep you posted on Instagram if I find any more!)

I kept it really simple in the kitchen because Marks is like an angry bear if my “stuff” gets in the ways of his food lol! In his defense, he does do most of the cooking.

A Nutcracker Christmas Card Display

Every year we love getting Christmas cards from friends and family, and it will especially nice this year as we won’t be seeing anyone in person.

I draped some garland over the mudroom door and then used these adorable Nutcracker pegs that I found at the dollar store to clip cards onto the garland. Can’t wait ’til it’s all filled up!

Pink Ballerina Brunch

In our dining nook I set up a little Nutcracker ballerina brunch for the girls. It’s a tradition in our house to decorate this table for birthdays and holidays and the girls wake up and check there first for presents and surprises!

Crackers are a must at holiday meals for us. We put the crowns on and read the jokes and the whole deal. I found super sweet Nutcracker-themed Christmas crackers and created a little brunch setup that I will recreate for the girls on Christmas morning. SHOP THE POST

Our house is a work in progress this season. I am not holding myself to any deadlines, so if I add more fun things to the house I’ll update this post! Last year we turned our pond into a skating rink and decked out the screen room and mudroom, so we’ll see what else we get up to!
