I love the cozy feeling that fall brings, but it’s a busy time of year. With the end of summer and back-to-school bustle, it always feels a little rushed and hectic. I don’t have time to go all out on fall décor (I save that for Christmas). I like to gather a few items from around the house and up the cozy factor without spending a lot of time or money! Here are 10 easy and free fall decor ideas!

#1 Apples

Every year we pick the apples from our little trees in the front yard! They look pretty in a bushel basket or a bowl on the kitchen counter (until they get eaten)!

#2 Pinecones

There are so many ways to use pinecones as decor in the fall! Throw them in a vintage dough bowl with some twinkle lights to make a pretty centerpiece or intersperse a few with your pumpkins and mums on the front porch. If you are feeling crafty, you could make your own wreath or garland!

#3 Branches

Clippings from the yard are my favorite way to add a dramatic fall touch without spending a lot of money. We have beautiful branches right in our yard and I pilfer them each year to fill large vases or buckets! I look for anything with pretty foliage or color as well!

#4 Rakes

We have a lot of trees on our property and the leaf raking is endless! I like to prop the rake on the porch when it’s not in use. It looks cute and I don’t have to traipse over to the shed to grab it!

#5 Leaves

That brings me to my next free fall decor item…leaves!! We always think of cleaning them up, but they actually look really pretty gathered in a basket or bucket!

#6 Baskets

If you are like me you have a basket collection for any and every occasion! Seriously, I don’t even know where they all come from!! Although I do have bushel baskets for apple picking, I also like to use any other woven baskets I have as cache pots for mums, pinecones or pumpkins!

#7 Hats & Blanket Scarves

Resist throwing your favorite felt hat or blanket scarf in the closet when you get home. Leave your hat hanging on a hook or door handle. Drape your scarf over a chair or bench to add warmth and texture to your space!

#8 Rugs

I love the doormat layering trend that’s been popular this year. Layering an indoor rug under your doormat can add warmth and coziness to your fall entryway or porch!

#9 Boots

I’m not sure if my trusty Hunter boots spend more time on my feet or on my porch looking stylish! Leave your favourite pair of boots out to add to the fall vibe. You won’t have to go looking for them when it’s time to head out the door!

#10 Mugs

Place a cute mug on a side table with a throw or a book and you’ve created an instant cozy vibe. My favourites for fall are beautiful Moscow mule copper mugs!
